Check for Duplicates

Before migration, check whether the destination Recorder already contains any devices that exist on the source volume being migrated. XProtect permits multiple Recorders to record the same video streams from the same cameras, so duplicates are possible.

If duplicates are detected, follow these steps to resolve them before proceeding with migration:

  1. Review the Duplicates List in XPort.

  2. Close XPort.

  3. Remove the duplicate devices — either from the source Recorder or from the destination Recorder, as appropriate.

  4. Restart XPort and begin the migration process again from the start.

Restarting ensures that XPort revalidates the XProtect configuration after duplicates have been resolved, preserving system integrity before any volume is detached.
