Transfer Media

Initiate Media Transfer

The following steps start the media transfer process. Some steps are repeated for each source recorder, and the user will be notified by the migration wizard.

1

Begin

2

Copy the Media Transfer program to the source indicated

XPort creates a media transfer program specific to each source recorder. Copy the generated program to the specified source indicated by XPort. The program will not work on a different recording server source.

3

Extract and run on the source recorder indicated

Instructions to run the media migration progam

A single run of the program copies media content from one source to all destinations where the media needs to be distributed. For example, if camera one from this source migrates to recorder one at the destination, and camera 2 migrates to recorder 2, the program copies media accordingly.

This process may take hours or even days, depending on the size of the media database. If there are multiple source recorders, migration can be done in parallel from all of them. Proceed to the next step if you have considered the demand on the network and the recorder disks.

Otherwise, when one source recorder is complete, return to the XPort utility for the next one.

4

Repeat on other sources

Repeat the above migration steps for other sources if instructed by the XPort program.

After completing the migration from all sources, we are now ready to connect the copied media to each destination recorder's media database.

Then, click ">" in the Wizard to continue.
