While it is possible to synchronize all RMF-licensed devices, this feature allows one to choose only some of these. Only a few devices may be synchronized, while others can maintain different properties, belong to different primary and secondary device groups, and have unique role-based access configurations. Combining this feature with subsequent blocks enables the implementation of precise synchronization filters, providing full control over the process.
For example, this feature could be helpful with multi-lens multi-stream cameras where one may want more streams sent to the primary, and fewer streamed to the secondary so as not to exceed the camera's stream capacity. After the initial camera setup, such a camera could be de-selected from the selection list, and manual stream disables can be made on one of the sites.
Click Devices.
Step Result: The confirmatory dialog box appears. Select Refresh to log in and retrieve the latest device list, or choose Cache to continue configuration with the previously fetched device list. The Cache option saves time at large installations by using information stored from previous fetch cycles.
a. The following screen appears if Refresh is chosen while in independent architecture.
Remember, to proceed, you must log in as a user with administrator privileges on the Primary and Secondary Milestone Management Servers.
Click Connect at the bottom right corner of the screen to continue.
b. The following screen appears if Refresh is chosen in a Federated/Single Site.
Note: If your XProtect architecture is Federated, log in to the Parent Management Server.
2. Click Connect at the bottom right corner of the screen to continue.
Step Result: The Devices screen appears, listing all the RMF-licensed devices. Select the devices whose properties need to be synchronized.
Click the Help icon to view additional information.
Select the devices to synchronize the device properties.
Click Save to save the changes.
Step Result: If no devices were selected apriori, selecting at least one device will enable subsequent synchronization filter blocks.
Click Save in the Milestone toolbar to save the changes.
