At the end of a camera's life cycle, administrators can use the device replacement feature in Milestone XProtect to replace a camera in place. This allows them to avoid the hassle of setting up an entirely new device. With active-active redundant recording, they must repeat these actions on the redundant recorders. RMF's Replace Camera feature eliminates the need to manually duplicate such camera replacements performed within Milestone.
In backup mode, this option automatically replaces the cameras on the secondary server when replaced on the primary server. In restore mode, it functions in the opposite direction to replace cameras on the primary.
Click Replace.
Note: The system must consume and manage at least one RMF license. Otherwise, the following screen will appear. Ensure the cameras are licensed before proceeding with the next steps.
Step Result: The Replace Settings dialog box appears. The Replace Camera toggle button is turned off by default.
Move the toggle button to enable and click the Save icon.
Click Save in the Milestone toolbar to save the changes.
