This section facilitates the pairing of primary and secondary cameras, giving users the flexibility to pair recorders or create a fully customized camera map.

Auto Mode (Pair Servers, Auto Manage Devices)

To achieve Symmetric Pairing, pair one primary recorder with one secondary recorder. For Asymmetric Pairing, connect multiple primary recorders to a single secondary recorder.

In the Auto mode and with Symmetric pairing, the RMF SmartSync Service auto-mirrors operations such as add, move, delete, and replace while synchronizing from primary to secondary servers or vice versa. If Asymmetric pairing is used, add, move, delete, and replace, they are auto-mirrored in the Backup mode. Only replace and delete are auto-mirrored in the Restore mode.

Manual Mode ( Manual Device Management)

In this mode, you have complete flexibility over each device's redundancy. You must manually select secondary recorders for each device. A few devices from the primary recorder can be paired on one secondary recorder, and others from the same primary recorder can be paired on another.

In the Manual mode, device replacement and deletion operations are auto-mirrored in both directions, from primary to secondary and secondary to primary. Adding or moving devices are NOT auto-mirrored on the secondary because of the at-will mapping mode. In this scenario, one must use the manual synchronization tool provided under workflows to copy devices to the destination recorder.

Note: Changing modes is possible after an initial choice but will likely involve significant effort for large deployments.

Note: In the current release only Auto Mode is supported.
