High Availability Alarms

Leverage Redundant Event Pipelines

Overview

RMF Alarms are designed to support high-availability event detection by collecting and processing events from multiple event pipelines. In a redundant setup, if one event pipeline fails to generate an alarm due to a hardware issue or network interruption, the system ensures that events from the backup pipeline are still processed and displayed as XProtect Alarms on the operator's dashboard. Additionally, the service filters out duplicate events, ensuring that a single alarm is generated when both event pipelines are functioning normally.

The RMF Alarm Service is supported only for Single Site, and Federated redundancy architectures. With Independent architectures, the Client does not have credentials for both sites at once. Therefore, although events can be retrieved from both sites, they cannot be sent to the client from the site where the client is not logged in.

Installation

The RMF alarm functionality is deployed alongside other components, depending on the redundancy architecture in place. See the section: What to Install Where.
